Can I sell my car without buying a car?

No, all trade-in offers apply to vehicles included as a trade-in with a vehicle purchased from Hertz Car Sales. Offers can be applied to the sale price or the toward the down payment of a purchased vehicle.

No, all of our offers are firm and valid for 7 days.

If you have an online offer, you don't need an additional in-store appraisal. Also, if your offer expires, you can get an updated offer online anytime. We use the same appraisal criteria online and in-store, and verify every car's condition in-person when an online offer is redeemed. We only adjust online offers if a car's condition, use, or history differs from the information we received.

Your VIN or license plate is used to determine if you are eligible to receive an instant offer for your car. Not all vehicles qualify for an online offer based on our eligibility criteria which includes a vehicle history check. No additional personal information is required.

Requirements can vary, but there are a few items you'll need no matter where you are:

  • Your car's title or payoff information. All titleholders should be present.
  • Valid and current registrations
  • Valid state-issued photo ID for all title holders
  • All keys and remotes

We analyze your car's specific year, make, model, mileage, and features. We consider its condition, history, and use from information you provide, our own assessments, and internal and third-party history information.

We will verify that the answers you provided online are accurate when you arrive in our store. If all of the answers are accurate, you will receive the exact amount of your online offer. In some cases, we may need to test drive your car to check on certain mechanical conditions. The long-term maintenance and care of your car is more important than cleanliness for an in-store verification.

2 The appraised value of your vehicle shall be the same at all Hertz Car Sales stores and is valid for seven (7) days following the date of appraisal, after which time your vehicle will need to be reappraised and its value may change. The appraisal valuation assumes the condition of your vehicle has not changed from the time of the appraisal to the time of sale and that the vehicle continues to conform with all representations made in the Vehicle Purchase Agreement.
